Overcome your fears
You see…I am not really keen on heights. Not that i haven’t been in the Eiffel Tower and enjoyed it. There is just this weird feeling of fear and bravery trying to coexist inside of me when i just go up on a ladder. When asked to attach an anttenne 20 meters up in the mast of a 55 foot Bavaria Cruiser, those two before mentioned feelings started their own little discussion nside. But of course i’m up for it. Pff heights no problem….

Bravery won.
Even though sitting up there in a pastic foamy basket around my waist held up by a thick rope; sounds safe right…i still felt fear. But damn i wanted to succeed and not give up.
I realised that from all the teachings I’ve had from sailors and (way too many) Youtube videos; one recipe really helped.
Fear can be overcome with the focus from wanting to be suceed.
If you are focused on your task, you can control your mind to do what it does best. Logical thinking.. In my case i knew i wanted to get up there and do my task. Instead of listening to my fear and my mind going ”bad idea!” i controlled it and asked: ”Is this rope safe, is this seat strapped safely. Your mind is amazing at yes or no tasks and even better when you ask how. Being afraid of height is a feeling.
Be present in the moment and accept what you are feeling and thinking; that presence of what you are going through gives you control and that is the focus you need to overcome it. When you have that focus in the presence, not even fear can touch you.
